Billing FAQ
How does billing work ?
We are a private pay practice. When you start services with us you will create a patient portal account. Through this portal you are able to make payments for your session. Payment is due at the time of services.
Can I use my HSA to pay for sessions?
Yes, you can use your HSA to pay for sessions in our patient portal. You may also use a debit card or your direct checking account information. If you would like to use a credit card to pay for sessions, there will be a small processing fee associated with each transaction.
Will you help me submit a superbill?
If needed, we can use session time during one of our first appointments to walk through the process of submitting a superbill to your insurance company. If the process is complex or we run into issues, I will help you identify who to contact to help troubleshoot the process.
Do you take my insurance?
Growth Grove is a private pay practice, which means we don't bill insurance companies directly. Here's why:
Your Privacy Comes First
We've observed a troubling increase in third parties accessing private health information without client consent. By not filing insurance claims, your sensitive information stays between us, giving you complete control over your health records.
Better Care, Less Bureaucracy
Insurance companies often dictate arbitrary treatment plans and set unrealistic timelines for care that don't align with individual client needs. By operating as a private pay practice, the control over your treatment plan remains where it belongs—shared between you and me. This collaborative approach allows us to make decisions based on your actual progress and needs, not external requirements.
Additionally, insurance companies create administrative burdens for mental health providers, resulting in delayed payments and hours spent on paperwork rather than client care. Our private pay model allows us to focus our time and energy where it matters most—on providing you with thoughtful, personalized care.
Transparent, Fair Pricing
Without the overhead costs of insurance billing, we can offer more reasonable rates. The time we don't spend on insurance calls and paperwork translates to more affordable sessions for you.
Insurance Options Still Available
We provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement following our sessions. Reimbursement approval and amounts vary based on your specific plan—contact your insurance representative to learn about your out-of-network benefits.
